Ideal candidates are those with pattern baldness, thinning hair, or hair loss due to trauma, burns, or scarring. Candidates should have stable hair loss patterns. Dr. Shah has experience transplanting all hair types regardless of ethnicity.
During the procedure, hair follicles are harvested from donor areas (typically the back of the scalp) and transplanted to areas of thinning or balding. The two main techniques are:
▪ FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction): Individual hair follicles are directly removed from the donor area and transplanted.
▪ FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation): A strip of scalp is removed, and individual follicular units are extracted and transplanted.
The procedure can take several hours, and the transplanted hair begins to grow naturally over several months.
Can you treat Scarring Hair Loss?
Yes! If the process of scarring has resolved and is not progressive, you can get great results with hair transplantation.
